International Legal Doc Centre empowers Jamaicans

Persons who have for too long been without a birth certificate and experience challenges such as a loss of records can now get help.The International Legal Doc Centre is adding a slant to the meaning of document centre, as team members offer tracking and research services and drafting of official and critical documents. This is in its bid to empower Jamaicans to being better equipped, educated and efficient as individuals.
The Legal doc (Document) Centre is focused on improving the efficiency of entities which serve the public by enabling average Jamaicans to be better prepared when approaching such entities for making applications for example.
Processing at entities such as the Court, The Registrar and National Land Agency, Private Companies and even employers, homeowners is now easier as the public at large can take advantage of several services offered by The International Legal Doc Centre.
Team members are going beyond average document drafting and mere paperwork such as resume, job application and recommendations. Qualified and trained personnel are offering preliminary groundwork such as research, assistance with filling in forms, legwork and information gathering services.
The need arose after it was discovered that numerous persons who were without relevant documents such as their birth certificate when original records could not be found, additionally lacked an understanding of what is needed to create a substitute document package to successfully apply. Additionally, some persons are challenged in terms of the time management and schedule to track vital information from their old schools, or even the hospitals as needed by the Registrar.
The ‘doc’ centre will cater further to persons who cannot read or write and those who are met with challenges in filling in basic forms.
Where the Courts and other legal matters are concerned, members of the team are qualified with paralegal training to extend their services to attornies to assist with research of facts and also document preparations.
Persons earning a low income are the priority client.
Journalist Anthea McGibbon came up with the idea in 2009, and says the business was registered earlier this year after encouragements by a few successful clients. She says tertiary students will not be left out, as some already benefit on research services.
A list of other services include layout, investigations, ghostwriting, editing and photography, and she says the networking team includes paralegals, journalists, investigators, ex-police officers and college graduates. There are attorneys who give input to ensure compliance with the law.
General legwork is offered to persons who find it easier to rely on qualified and efficient personnel to do the running around in their stead, and for minimum fees. Frustrated with the long hours it takes for one to do business at some entities, this service has proven worthwhile for even street vendors, and in some instances persons residing abroad.

The primary registered office is at 3 South Avenue Kingston 5. However operations are being carried out at a location the downtown Kingston, the hub of the country’s busy life.
